GasGas PRO 280

The PRO is technology at it's peak, in motorcycle design, but it comes at a small price. The shifting shaft runs through the center of the shift-drum and has an internal engagement system leaving only the part you see exposed behind the clutch basket. To get to it, remove the right side cover, being careful to watch for the spacer washer that is on the kickstart shaft. a small allen head bolt can be found in the center of the clutch assembly. Remove it and pull the basket off. It may take some coercing with a small pry-screwdriver the first time. The allen bolt with the hexnut is an offset cam, which allows adjustment of the shifter lever. An encounter with a rock or other immoveable object has been known to effect the shifting-throw. This "cam" is for centering the lever again.

The blue arrow points to a broken shifter spring.

Fan: Put a little white paint on every other fan blade to make it easier to see when running!

GasGas Tx 50

Problem :  The brake pedal hangs down a little too far and has a tendency to "catch" on rocks, roots, etc. and

fix: 1st, mark the brake pedal area that touches the "stop". Remove the pedal. Using a die-grinder, dremel, or round file, remove 5/16" worth of metal from the pedal-stop area.

2nd: Remove the piston arm from the master cylinder and replace with a longer metric bolt, to extend it. Grind off the bolt head and lengthen appropriately.

The brake pedal should retract completely to the stop in the higher position, giving enough clearance to prevent further "hang-ups".
